Arkwright Scholarship Success
Saima (Year 12) has been awarded a prestigious Arkwright Scholarship. In Year 11 she successfully navigated both the application process and a competitive selection day. She learned in August that she’d been successful and will hear shortly by which company she is to be sponsored. Saima and her parents will attend the Award Ceremony later this term.
In addition to the £600 financial award, the scholarship provides Saima with a professional mentor and gives her access to a range of enrichment activities. Importantly it also enables her to apply in due course for an Arkwright Undergraduate Scholarship, available exclusively to Arkwright Engineering scholars. These substantial awards support study on undergraduate degrees in Engineering or Technical Design.
Saima is Woodford’s second Arkwright Scholar. Both she and Tatjana (our 2015 scholar) are articulate advocates for women in Engineering and will be active in encouraging younger students to follow in their footsteps.
We congratulate Saima on this very considerable achievement.
