30 students in years 10 to 12 set off, just before half term, for Club Correze in the South of France for a week of outdoor challenges. Undeterred by the snow (!) they drove through en route, the party shook out joints stiffened by coach travel and threw themselves into activities from abseiling to kayaking and from gorge walking to archery.
I’m pleased to share with you the rather lovely letter that arrived from the Director of the Centre this week.

Dear Ms Pomeroy
As you are aware your school has recently travelled to Cluib Correze in France with activ4 and I would like to take this opportunity to point out the excellent impression that was made by your pupils and staff. It is an unusual step to write to a headteacher but in a climate where the perceived shortcomings of the younger generation are quickly commented upon, it is a pleasure to highlight a notable success.
I would be most grateful if you would pass on my personal thanks to the party leader, Holly Keeling and accompanying staff, without their energy and commitment your pupils would not have been able to enjoy such a wonderful experience. Their rapport with your students and with our staff in resort was a key factor in the success of the trip and I am sure your parents and governors would like to join us in thanking y our staff for raising the profile of your school and for giving so freely of their time.
