A beautiful summer’s evening provided the perfect backdrop for our first Arts Showcase. Visitors wandered between atmospheric exhibitions of Art and Technology, pop-up dance and musical performances. Those choosing a seat in the sun to enjoy sumptuous cakes (baked by Food Technology students) were entertained by two bands and - for a Gallic interlude – an accordion player. A second stage hosted songs from the shows (including “Thoroughly Modern Millie” , our Summer Production) while a third offered a harpist and a pianist before drawing everyone in for the Jazz Band finale.
The creativity of a team of Sixth Form students and the collaboration (and sheer hard work) of our Art, Technology and Music Departments achieved something magical – the artistic “Awakening” alluded to in the show’s title. There was no mistaking the warmth of visitors’ feedback nor the enjoyment of all those fortunate to be part of the event. Our congratulations to everyone involved.
