World of Work at Woodford

Work Experience Year 11

Work Experience provides students with a wide range of opportunities, as well as confidence and an insight into the world of work. Although students will likely want to work in an area that interests them, it is not important that the placement exactly mirrors their career aspirations. It is more valuable to consider the type of working environment: if they wish to be dealing with the public, working as a team, etc.

The Work Experience programme for Year 11 students takes place during the two weeks of the Summer Term post GCSE exams. Students are responsible for finding their own work placement. Guidance to Work experience is provided in attached work experience document. It is useful for both students as well as parents.

Work Shadowing Year 10 and Year 12

At Woodford, we also encourage year 10 students to participate in ' Take your daughter to work Day'.  This project is about students working together with employers, employees, parents and educators to create a successful day that strengthens the connection between education and work.

Year 12 students are encouraged to participate in work shadowing for a day. In addition, they are also made aware of various work experience opportunities via email. Year 12 students are involved in voluntary service every year for up to 40 hours.
