Covid -19 pandemic:
The closing of schools and the cancellation of the 2020 public examination series
As one of its measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 the Government ordered the closure of schools (to all but vulnerable students and the children of key workers) from Friday 20 March 2020. Two days earlier the Secretary of State for Education had announced the cancellation of all public examinations for Summer 2020.
Thus the examination results reported below were based on Centre Assessed Grades, determined in line with procedures outlined by Ofqual.
We are enormously proud of the resilience shown by candidates both for GCSE and A-Levels and the way they navigated the uncertainties they faced during an unprecedented period.
GCSE
Year 11 achievement was strong across the whole Year 11 cohort. Grade 9 is the highest grade allocated, reserved for the very highest performances. At Woodford this year no fewer than 31.29% of entries achieved this accolade. 5 students achieved straight 9s, 24 students achieved a complete suite of 8s & 9s and 65 students achieved nothing lower than 7s.

A-Level
Girls and their teachers and parents had much to celebrate on results day. 77% of the 497 exam entries this year were awarded A* to B grades with 12% achieving the top A* grade designed to recognise the highest levels of achievement. 13 girls achieved a clean sweep of A* grades across all their subjects and a total of 50 students had straight A* /A grades.
We congratulate every one of our A-Level candidates. We are very proud of their achievements
