The Education Department of this national museum moved in for two days at the end of January to expose students in Key Stage 3 to some scientific wizardry.
Girls in Year 7 tackled a variety of experiments themselves and then rose to the challenge of explaining the science behind their findings to their peers. Master classes for Year 8 and Year 9 might not have been out of place at Hogwarts: students explored the extremes of temperature, investigating the effects of liquid nitrogen, learned how it feels to touch a cloud and made their own instant ice cream.
