Library Mission & Policy Statements
Mission Statement
The mission of the Library is to provide students with the skills and resources to become independent critical readers, thinkers and information users. Within the Library every student is known, liked and valued. The Library’s role is to support and enhance the school curriculum and its goals, upholding the values of a high quality Woodford education and envisioning the ways in which we collectively seek to achieve these aims.
Policy Statement
Our Library and Reference Library is situated in a central position above the front door of Highams House and is central to the life of the school. In our Libraries we aim to work within the context of our mission statement, school values, vision and policies.
The contents of our Libraries reflects the richness of our curriculum. Our Libraries provide space for quiet study, reading and research support. The resources in our Libraries provide support to all year groups, in all areas of the curriculum. Our Libraries are open all school hours for users to make good use of all the facilities. Library users and visitors are welcome to view the school archives housed in the Library and to contribute to future archives.
All members of the school are invited to contribute to the development and running of the Libraries by applying for leadership roles, requesting resources and giving feedback on how to improve services. All users are requested to keep the Libraries tidy, respect other users and the Library environment. There is a strict code of conduct for the Libraries which all users are expected to adhere to. The code of conduct, including sanction regulations can be found in student planners.
